The Irish National Ports Study published with the support of Ocean Winds

Ocean Winds has co-funded the National Ports Study, Irish research on port preparedness for the large-scale development of offshore renewable energy.

Published by Wind Energy Ireland, and produced by Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions, the report was published in September 2022. It evaluates the current situation on the infrastructures available at each port and harbour in Ireland, as well as their adaptation plans to be able to develop offshore wind energy.
This assessment comes at a perfect time, as the Irish government has recently increased its offshore wind target to 7GW by 2030. Ocean Winds supported the report as it is committed to the development of Ireland’s potential to produce offshore renewable energy. With Ocean Winds background, expertise, and experience, it can contribute on the Irish journey of becoming net zero by 2050, which will benefit the Irish community and economy.

The National Ports Study is an effective tool for all stakeholders seeking opportunities through offshore wind sector to evaluate what steps must be taken to optimize its development. The will to move to a zero-carbon economy by the Irish government, closely aligned with OW main objective of achieving a carbon neutral world.
